Dedication of New Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes at Fitzsimons
| WHAT: | Dedication and ribbon-cutting for the newly completed Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes at Fitzsimons. This event is open only to invited guests and members of the media. |
| WHO: | Speakers will include George Eisenbarth, MD, PhD, Barbara Davis Center executive director, Barbara Davis, founder of the center and the Children's Diabetes Foundation, and James Shore, MD, chancellor of the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center. |
| VISUALS: | Among the distinguished guests expected to attend are U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar, D-Colo., CU President Hank Brown, and Aurora Mayor Ed Tauer. The center's patients and their families, as well as doctors, nurses, researchers and administrators also will be on hand. There will be amusement rides and other activities for children. Visitors will be able to tour the new facility. |
| WHEN: | Dedication: Noon to 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2. Note: A companion symposium called Diabetes Advances at Bedside and Bench will take place 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 1, in the second-floor conference room at the new Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. Experts from around the country will speak at the symposium, and a panel will answer questions. |
