Marion Downs Center to Hold Picnic for Families of Deaf, Hard of Hearing Children
| What: | The Marion Downs Hearing Center at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center, in partnership with the Colorado Families for Hands & Voices, will host a picnic for the families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing. The event will feature fun activities such as a jumping castle, door prizes, balloons, goodie bags, a clown and a raffle, as well as a free dinner and educational opportunities for families. |
| Who: | Meet with staff members of the Marion Downs Hearing Center, fellow families of deaf and hard of hearing children, and special guest, Sen. Wayne Allard, R-Colo. |
| Why: | The Marion Downs Hearing Center has a family-centered practice at the core of its programs for children. In addition to the medical and educational services at the center, parent support and leadership are promoted. The center has a partnership with Hands & Voices, a nationally recognized parent support organization. This picnic offers families the chance to take time from their busy lives for some mid-week fun with other families of deaf and hard of hearing children. This event will be both social and educational, providing the opportunity to learn about Colorado Telecommunication Equipment Distribution (TEDP) and current issues affecting the community. |

Driving directions:
From Interstates 225 and 70: Take I-70 east to I-225; take I-255 south to Colfax Avenue; take Colfax Avenue west to Quentin Street; take Quentin Street north to the Marion Downs Hearing Center; the picnic will be in the park across the street from the center.
