UCDHSC to Hold Conference on Stem Cell Biology
| WHAT: | The Department of Medicine at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center’s School of Medicine will hold its fourth annual Research Day focusing on stem cell biology. The day will be divided into two sessions. The plenary session will include discussions of current issues in stem cell biology, breast cancer stem cells, stem cells for brain repair, cell replacement therapy for diabetes, and spinal cord regeneration. The poster session is open to all areas of research from fourteen divisions of the Department of Medicine. |
| WHY: | After announcing a $6 million grant and attracting a noted stem cell researcher to the faculty, the School of Medicine is emerging as a new leader in the field of stem cell research. This forum will allow faculty in the Department of Medicine to showcase the many exciting areas of stem cell research being explored, as well as sharing other areas of interest being researched in the department. |
| WHO: | Members of the news media are invited to attend this academic event, which is not open to the general public. Members of the school’s faculty as well as renowned stem cell researcher Dr. John Kessler of Northwestern University will speak to the issues and research advances. |
