AURORA (Sept. 15, 2006) – The University of Colorado Hospital has named Bill Sonn its director of Marketing & Public Relations, effective Sept. 25. A long-time editor, marketing and publishing executive, Sonn comes to the hospital from Business Development Communications, a marketing consultancy. He formerly served as CEO of Forte Information Resources, as vice president with The Business Word, Inc. and as president of Interrobang, Inc.
President-elect of Colorado Healthcare Strategies and Management, Sonn is also a widely published writer. Included among his credits: Chicago magazine, Outside, Columbia Journalism Review, Denver Business Journal, Westword and a slew of trade publications in health care, the graphic arts and financial services. He recently published a book, “Paradigms Lost: the Life and Deaths of the Printed Word,” by The Scarecrow Press.
As director of the newly reorganized department, Sonn will oversee both internal and external communications, as well as the effort “to get our region and the rest of the world to understand fully that there’s special medicine happening at the University of Colorado Hospital,” Sonn said.
The redevelopment of the former Fitzsimons Army Medical Center into a state-of-the-art health care campus offering clinical care, education and research was another draw for Sonn.
“The kind of advanced and collaborative care facilities now going up, and the expertise now gathering at the Fitzsimons campus – with University of Colorado Hospital, and the Health Sciences Center and Children’s Hospital – is remarkable,” Sonn added. “There is no place else like this in the country.”
