University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine's Department of Ophthalmology Ranked in the Top 10 Best Clinical Programs in the Nation
AURORA, Colo. (Nov. 15, 2007) - This year's Ophthalmology Times Best Programs Survey has ranked the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine one of the Top 10 Best Clinical (Patient Care) Programs in the United States.
Some of the other well-known clinical ophthalmology programs that ranked among the top 10 include Bascon Palmer at University of Miami, Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University, Duke University and Wills Eye Hospital.
According to Naresh Mandava, MD, chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the UC Denver School of Medicine, this significant accomplishment demonstrates that the School of Medicine's ophthalmology program is delivering on its mission: to be a nationally-recognized Department of Ophthalmology that serves the people of the Rocky Mountain Region by providing exemplary patient care founded on educational leadership, innovative research and high ethical standards.
"This ranking clearly shows consumers they don't need to leave Denver to receive the best eye care in the United States," added Mandava. We have built a faculty which is second to none in our field. The Department will continue to recruit the most well-respected and talented clinicians and surgeons in the U.S. to our beautiful new facilities on the Anschutz Medical Campus."
Since 1995, Ophthalmology Times has conducted a Best Programs Survey. Rankings are determined by a comprehensive survey of 214 ophthalmology department chairpersons and residency directors. The awards recognize excellence in teaching and development of residents, patient care and the pursuit of new frontiers in ophthalmic medicine.
