Pharmacy Students the First for New Education Building on Anschutz Medical Campus

WHAT: The University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center's (UCDHSC) School of Pharmacy students will be the first students to step foot in the new Education-1 building for orientation of the new campus at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Contractors are in the process of putting the finishing touches on all of the new education buildings on campus and the School of Pharmacy students will begin their first classes in the Education-1 building's lecture hall in November

The $32.6 million Education 1 building includes space for multipurpose classrooms, lecture halls, specialized instructional and computer laboratories, student community space, program space for the Center for Studies in Clinical Performance, and skills laboratories for programs in nursing, physical therapy, and pharmacy.

In September 2002, UCDHSC School of Medicine students in the Child Health Associate Physician Assistant Program were the first students to attend classes on the burgeoning campus in the former Fitzsimons army hospital building. The next students arrived in September 2005, when students from the UCDHSC School of Dental Medicine began classes on the new campus after the Lazzara Center for Oral-Facial Health building opened. The newest education buildings on the campus, including Education-1, will eventually be used by all the schools at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colo., including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and graduate programs.
