Community Conference to Focus on Reforming Health Care in an Ethical Manner

WHAT: “Reforming Health Care in an Ethical Manner” will be the topic of discussion at the 3rd Annual Community Conference on Health Care Ethics on Monday, Oct. 8. Presented by the Center for Bioethics and Humanities at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC), this year’s conference also has sponsorship support by the Caring for Colorado Foundation.

The conference presents the initial opportunity for public dialogue following recommendations from The Ethical Force Program – a multi-stakeholder collaborative led by the Institute for Ethics at the American Medical Association. The recommendations, published this week in The Hastings Center Report, present an ethical framework for providing access to and reforming health care. This is one of several projects on health care ethics by The Ethical Force Program and includes participation by individuals from many different health care perspectives: patients, practitioners, institutions, regulators and purchasers.

The keynote speaker for the conference, Matthew Wynia, is the director of The Ethical Force Program. There will be time set aside for an interactive discussion between all of the panelists and audience members.
