Newly Elected President Joins University of Colorado Denver Business School
DENVER (March 5, 2008) - The University of Colorado Denver Business School announced today that Bruce Benson, newly elected president of the University of Colorado system, will join the school's faculty as an executive in residence and professor attendant.
President Bruce Benson is an accomplished leader in the energy industry. His position at the Business School recognizes his experience in the field. He will bring expertise to the Global Energy Management Initiative (GEM) being developed at the school. The GEM program is a collaborative program among the energy industry, government, communities and the Business School to educate future industry leaders.
Earlier today, business school faculty unanimously and enthusiastically endorsed Benson's appointment as an executive in residence and professor attendant in recognition of his extensive experience in business. Attendant rank may be conferred on individuals whose primary responsibilities are administrative, but whose experience qualifies them for recognition as faculty and who agree to engage in instructional activities without additional compensation over and above their regular salary. Attendant faculty have all the rights and privileges extended to the regular faculty, but are not eligible for tenure.

UC Denver's Business School is the largest accredited graduate school of business in Colorado with more than 18,000 alumni. The school serves more than 1,000 graduate students and 1,400 undergraduate students each year. Students and faculty are involved in solving real-world business problems as they collaborate on more than 100 projects with area businesses every semester through classroom work, guest lectures and civic projects.
