TAKE 10!

Obesity rates among children and adolescents have doubled in the past 20 years. Overweight children are more likely to become obese adults and as a result are at an increased risk of developing serious diseases. Although a poor diet is often cited as the culprit for the rise in childhood obesity, the key factor is energy balance. TAKE 10! helps to teach children the importance of physical activity in both theory and practice.

TAKE 10! is a classroom-based physical activity program for elementary schools and is designed to add at least 10 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity during the school day. TAKE 10! lessons integrate physical activity with grade specific academic objectives to reinforce required learning.
