Area of Research:
Ms. Steirn is working on the Diet
& Physical Activity Interactions in Obesity grant. This research will
analyze the effects of food composition on energy intake in physically active
and inactive individuals. She helps with screening and consenting subjects,
monitoring the eating portion of the study and analyze data. Also, I am the
coordinator for the Nutrition Academic Award (NAA) which involves increasing
the nutrition education content in the curriculum for medical students and
for an infant nutrition study looking at micronutrient absorption of infant
formula.
Educational/Professional Background:
Ms. Steirn started at the Center in 1996. For the first three years she
primarily worked on infant nutrition studies, working with moms and babies as
the liaison between the families, the lab and the funding organization. Since
2000, she has worked with the Nutrition Academic Award (NAA) and in 2001
began working on the Diet &
Physical Activity Interactions in Obesity Study. Marsha holds degrees in
education, business and most recently in Dietetic Technology and is a
Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR).
