Area of Research:
Ms. Fleming works in laboratories of Dr. Paul MacLean and Dr. James Hill,
performing metabolic studies in rodent models of obesity, weight loss,
and weight maintenance.
Educational/Professional Background:
Ms. Fleming began working at UCD in 2002 after earning a degree in Biology
at Colorado State University. As an undergraduate she worked in a laboratory
that studied the exploratory behavior of Meander Tail mice. She also
investigated a nuclear protein found in wild type and Methoprene Tolerant
Drosophila melanogaster in order to compare its physical and chemical
properties.
Ms. Fleming is currently working with researchers in the Center examining
the metabolic state of weight loss and maintenance and is managing another
study on the effects of dietary fat on skeletal muscle expression of
sterol response element binding protein.
