Obstetrics and GynecologyResidency ProgramRotation SchedulesPGY1 Gyn: 6 weeks at the University and 6 weeks at Denver Health. These rotations include gyn clinic, pre-op clinic and inpatient surgeries. Primary responsibilities of the interns include fielding consults, organizing pathology conferences, coloposcopy clinic, procedure clinic, therapeutic abortion clinic (optional), and performing surgeries such as laparoscopic tubals, hysteroscopies, and D and Cs. Gyn Oncology: 6 weeks at the University. The interns primary responsibilities include rounding, floorwork, clinic and assisting in OR cases. Clinic: 6 weeks at the University and 6 weeks at Denver Health. Clinics includes high risk ob clinic, diabetic clinic, annual exams, contraception clinic, pediatric gynecology clinic, emergency room follow up clinic, and continuity clinic at each hospital. Continuity clinic begins during intern year and continues throughout all four years. Off Service: 6 week SICU rotation at Denver Health. The interns primary responsibility is rounding, daily care of critically ill patients, new admissions, and procedures. ***3 weeks of vacation throughout the year as well as Interns week (All interns have the last week of the year off!)*** PGY2: The second year provides continuing education and responsibility in general obstetrics, maternal fetal medicine and general gynecology as well as gynecologic oncology. The second year also spends two rotations at Rose Medical Center in both general obstetrics and gynecologic surgery. During the second year, residents have a six week elective to focus on research objectives or career development.
PGY3: The third year residents have advanced responsibilities in obstetrics, gynecology, gyn oncology, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility at all three facilities. Third year residents act as in-house chiefs. In order to cover resident medical leave, emergencies, etc., we have a jeopardy rotation during the third year.
