Welcometo theObstetrics and GynecologyResidency ProgramWelcome to our website and thanks for visiting us!The University of Colorado Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology has a long and proud history going back 60 years, but we have been highly innovative in addressing the challenges of residency education. The strengths of the program are: 1) a large, diverse population of patients , 2) a broad, committed faculty including MDs and PhDs, 3) an outstanding group of residents, and 4) an environment where we all work together.
*In July 2006, we instituted a new curriculum for resident education; it’s rotation-based. Replacing a series of Monday morning lectures (where residents were passive learners), we now have residents as active learners in a format that establishes the practice of life-long learning. On each rotation, there is a weekly reading list, a faculty discussion leader, and a dedicated time for education. These small group discussions have been highly successful and fun! *We completed the move to our new campus at Anschutz Medical Campus in June 2007. The campus has been spread out over the last 3 years and the reconsolidation of all of our research, clinical and educational activities has made everyone’s life a lot easier. The new facilities are beautiful. *In September 2006, the ob/gyn department at Denver Health Medical Center moved into a new, state-of-the art building. The new wing of the hospital is dedicated to the care of women and children and includes outpatient clinics, labor and delivery, postpartum and post-operative gynecologic care, neonatal intensive care unit and a general pediatric floor. The next few months will be one of the most important ones of your lives; where you do your residency is critical to how your career decisions are made. This is an exciting time for you and for us. It’s the annual cycle of renewal. We wish you all the best of success in your career in our wonderful field of obstetrics and gynecology.
