Answers:

1. Diagnoses:

  • Left ventricle hypertrophy with "Box car" nuclei in large cells (compare with normal)

  • Systemic hypertension

  • Probable Cardiac arrhythmia

 

2. Medical complications of systemic hypertension:

  • Accelerated atherosclerosis

  • Ischemic cardiovascular disease (increased demand)

  • Cerebral hemorrhage - stroke.

  • Arterial nephrosclerosis/ arterionephrosclerosis - renal failure

  • Aneurysms.

 

3. Causes of systemic hypertension:

  • Primary essential Hypertension

  • Secondary Hypertension e.g.:

    • Renal origin e.g. renal artery stenosis, chronic renal disease

    • Endocrine in origin e.g.: Pheochromocytoma, Hyperaldosteronism, Cushing’s syndrome

  • Vascular e.g. coarctation of the aorta
