GEORGE EISENBARTH HONORED WITH
BANTING AWARD
Dr. George Eisenbarth has received the prestigious Frederick G. Banting Award, which honors scientific excellence and recognizes outstanding, long-term contributions to the understanding, treatment, and prevention of diabetes. This is the highest honor world-wide in the field of diabetes! George S. Eisenbarth, MD, PhD, is Professor of Pediatrics, Medicine, and Immunology, and Executive Director of the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes.

The NIH has published their FY ’08 funding data. In the category of awards to Departments of Pediatrics within U.S. Medical Schools, for the first time ever the Department of Pediatrics at UCDSOM came out on top – ranked Number 1 at $42.4M.

University of Colorado Denver Receives
NIH CTSA Award
UCD was awarded a $76 million Clinical and Translational Science Award by the NIH for the establishment of the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI), joining 37 other academic health centers in this national consortium with the goal to speed the application of scientific discoveries into clinical practice.
Ronald J. Sokol, MD, Chief of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics, is the Principal Investigator and Director of the CCTSI. <View more Recent Achievements>
