Vivek Balasubramaniam, MD, received his medical degree in 1995 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his Pediatric Residency at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, in 1998, and a dual Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine and Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital, in 2002. Dr. Balasubramaniam joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 2003. He is the Director of the Pediatric Heart Lung Center Laboratory.
Dr. Balasubramaniam’s scientific interests are in the development of the pulmonary vasculature, the response of the developing lung to injury, and the evolution of chronic lung diseases of childhood. He has received much grant support for his research work.
Dr. Balasubramaniam is published in both professional medical journals and textbooks. He is a sought-after speaker at pulmonary medicine conferences and is a member of several national medical organizations.
Dr. Balasubramaniam is board certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Pulmonology.
