Susan M. Brugman, MD
Associate Professor of Pediatrics
Susan M. Brugman, MD, earned her medical degree from the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1976. She completed her Pediatric Internship at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1977, and Residency at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in 1979. Dr. Brugman completed Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowships at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center and the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine in 1980 and 1988, respectively. She joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine in 1990.
Dr. Brugman's clinical interests include asthma, airway problems, vocal cord dysfunction (VCD), recurrent/chronic pneumonia, hyperventilation syndrome and breathing pattern disorders, interstitial lung disease and self-regulation techniques (biofeedback and hypnosis) for the treatment of respiratory problems. She is particularly interested in vocal cord dysfunction in children and adolescents. This disorder is frequently mistaken for asthma and can result in severe limitation of activity and disability. Dr. Brugman has published many journal articles and book chapters on VCD and asthma. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society.
Dr. Brugman is board certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Pulmonology.
