Keith L. Cavanaugh, MD

Keith L. Cavanaugh, MD, earned his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois, in 1996. He completed his residency in Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota in 2000. He was Internal Medicine Chief Resident at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from 2000-2001. He completed fellowship training in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at The Children’s Hospital in Denver in 2004 and in Sleep Medicine at National Jewish Medical and Research Center in 2005.
Dr. Cavanaugh joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 2004. He has served as Associate Director of the Rocky Mountain Pediatric Sleep Disorders Center since 2005.
Dr. Cavanaugh's clinical interests focus on General Pediatric Pulmonary issues and Sleep Medicine with particular interests involving obesity, neuromuscular disorders, breathing at high altitude, and apparent life threatening events. His research activities include working with the State of Colorado in the ongoing development of a program that will help health care providers address the risks of Second Hand Smoke Exposure (SHS) with their patients and motivate caregivers to decrease tobacco exposure to their children.
Dr. Cavanaugh is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine, and Sleep Medicine.
