Mita Das, PhD
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Mita Das, PhD, received her doctoral degree in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta, India (1990). She completed her first postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, with a focus on the effect of aging on signal transduction in human neutrophils (1993). At the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, she completed her second postdoctoral fellowship in vascular biology, with research on vascular wall remodeling during hypoxia-induced hypertension (1997). She joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics Section of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Colorado in 1997.
Dr. Das’s current research interests include investigating the mechanisms by which hypoxia alters proliferative responses and signaling mechanisms present in the adventitial fibroblast. She is the recipient of a grant from the National Institutes of Health to study Protein Kinase C isozymes in hypoxia-induced fibroblast proliferation.
Dr. Das was honored with the “Giles Filley Memorial Award” from the American Physiological Society (1998). She also received a fellowship award from the Colorado, Wyoming and Arizona Heart Association (1996) and an award for “Excellence in Research” from the American Association of Physicians (1991).
Dr. Das is a member of the American Heart Association and the American Physiological Society
