Nicholas K. Foreman, MB ChB, received his medical degree from the University of Sheffield, England, in 1981. He completed his Residency in Pediatrics at the University of Sheffield in 1985 and a Fellowship in Pediatrics/Pediatric Oncology from Bristol University in 1987. He also completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology in 1992 at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
Dr. Foreman joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 1995. He has held the Seebaum/Tschetter Chair of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology since 2001. Dr. Foreman is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and Director of the Neuro-Oncology Program at The Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Foreman is the recipient of many grants for his research. His major scientific interests include:
- Neuro-Oncology
- Ependymoma:
- therapy development
- prognostic markers
- Role of second look neuro-surgery
- Protocol development for infants with brain tumors
- High-dose therapy with peripheral stem cell rescue for resistant brain tumors
- Gene therapy for cancer. Cytokine insertion in glioblastoma
- Expression of cell adhesion molecules and their manipulation in glioblastoma and neuroblastoma
- Quality of life after therapy for pediatric brain tumors
Dr. Foreman is a reviewer for many professional medical journals. He is a prolific author of both journal articles and book chapters. He also is a much-requested speaker at national conferences and symposia. Dr. Foreman is a member of many professional committees, and he is a Co-Chair of the Children’s Oncology Group Ependymoma Sub-Committee.
Dr. Foreman is board certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
