Roger H. Giller, MD
Professor of Pediatrics

Roger H. Giller, MD, earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1976. He completed his Residency in Pediatrics in 1979 and a Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in 1983 at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 1993.
Dr. Giller was appointed Professor of Pediatrics in 2001 and serves as Director of the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Program. Dr. Giller also leads the combined adult and pediatric quality assurance program in bone marrow transplantation. This effort has gained The Children’s Hospital and the University of Colorado Hospital national accreditation of their BMT Programs through the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) since 2001. From 2003 to 2007, Dr. Giller also served as Interim Head of the Section of Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation.
Dr. Giller’s research interests include bone marrow transplantation for the treatment of malignant, hematopoietic, immunologic, and metabolic disorders; biology and treatment of pediatric germ cell cancer; viral immunity; and biomedical informatics. He is the recipient of numerous research grants for his work.
Dr. Giller is a peer reviewer for numerous medical journals and is widely published in journals and textbooks. He is also an active lecturer nationwide.
Dr. Giller belongs to many professional societies and has held numerous posts in committees. Currently, he is on the Board of Directors of the Brent Eley Foundation, which helps those living with cancer by providing housing, programs, and partnerships in our community. From 2000 to 2002 he was Chair of the American Board of Pediatrics Subboard of Hematology/Oncology. In 2006, he received the Outstanding Service Award from The Children’s Hospital. Dr. Giller has continually been chosen as one of the Best Doctors in America since 1998.
Dr. Giller is board certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
