Lia Gore, MD
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Lia Gore, MD, received her medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 1993. She completed her Pediatric Residency in 1996, a Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant in 1999, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Oncology and Leukemia Biology in 2001, all at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine.
Dr. Gore joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 2001. She is a member of the Developmental Therapeutics Program at the University of Colorado Cancer Center and Director of the Experimental Therapeutics Program at The Children’s Hospital, which she founded in 2004.
Dr. Gore’s research interests include clinical trials and drug development of novel cancer therapeutics, with a particular interest in the treatment of leukemias and brain tumors. She conducts translational research studies of new agents. Her research is aimed at developing new treatments for children with cancer that are both more effective and have fewer side effects than many drugs commonly used. Dr. Gore has received grant funding for a number of research projects. She is widely published in medical journals and is a popular speaker nationwide. She has directed more than 100 clinical trials and sits on advisory panels to the National Cancer Institute and several pharmaceutical development organizations.
Dr. Gore has received many awards and honors. Recently, she was named “Physician of the Year” by the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, “New Inventor of the Year” by the University of Colorado, as well as one of America’s Top Oncologists and one the “Best Doctors in America.”
Dr. Gore is board certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
