Louis C. Hampers, MD, MBA, FAAP, earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and his Master’s of Business Administration degree from The Wharton School in Philadelphia, both in 1992. He completed his pediatric residency training in 1995 at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and his fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine in 1999 at the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Prior to fellowship training, he served for a year as a general medical officer at a mission hospital in East Africa. Dr. Hampers joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 1999. He currently serves as Medical Director of the Emergency Department at The Children’s
Hospital and Section Head of Emergency Medicine for the Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. Hampers’ professional interests include language barriers in medical education and practice, international health, emergency department resource utilization, urgent care centers and “fast track” units, and management of febrile seizures.
Dr. Hampers is a member of numerous professional associations. He is currently serving a six-year appointment to the Committee on Pediatric Emergency Medicine of the American Academy of Pediatrics He also works closely with several national agencies on services for limited English proficiency families, including the Joint Commission and the Office of Minority Health. Dr. Hampers is a peer reviewer for many professional medical journals and is widely published in the field. He is also a popular guest lecturer nationwide.
Dr. Hampers is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
