Gary L. Larsen, MD
Professor of Pediatrics
Gary L. Larsen, MD, received his medical degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, in New York City, in 1971. He completed his Pediatric Residency at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine in 1974, and a Fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonary Disease, also at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, in 1978. Dr. Larsen joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 1978. He is a Professor in the Department of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and Professor and Head of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver.
Dr. Larsen has received numerous grants supporting his research work. He is internationally recognized for his research into the basic causes of asthma. His areas of interest include pulmonary inflammation, airways responsiveness, neural control of airway function, asthma in children and development of airway control. Dr. Larsen has participated in several NIH study groups and remains actively involved with setting national goals for asthma research.
Dr. Larsen has been named repeatedly to the list of Best Doctors in America. He is a member of numerous professional societies. He serves as a reviewer and editor for a lengthy list of medical publications; he has published extensively in the medical literature and is a sought-after speaker worldwide. He has mentored many postdoctoral research fellows.
Dr. Larsen is board certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Pulmonology.
