 
Myron J. Levin, MD
Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine
Myron J. Levin, MD, earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 1964. He completed residency training in medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, in 1966 and infectious diseases fellowship training at Harvard Medical School in 1971. Dr. Levin was a member of the Harvard Medical School faculty for over ten years, as well as Chief of the Division of Clinical Microbiology at the Sidney Farber Cancer Institute, before joining the faculty of the Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and The Children's Hospital in 1982. He has served in numerous capacities since, including Section Head of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, from 1982 to 2001, and Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at The Children's Hospital, from 1991 to 2001.
Dr. Levin's major research interests include prevention of varicella or herpes zoster with live attenuated varicella vaccines; mechanism of latency of varicella-zoster virus; mechanism and efficacy of antiviral agents; and immune response to vaccines, with emphasis on herpes viruses. He has published a total of over three hundred journal articles, abstracts, book chapters, reviews, and symposia. Dr. Levin has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. Recently, he was given a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Varicella-Zoster Research Foundation and appointed Editor of the Journal of Clinical Virology. He continues to serve on many national committees and advisory boards and to provide lectures and presentations on the local, national, and international circuits.
Dr. Levin is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
