Edwin Liu, MD
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Edwin Liu, MD, earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine in 1996. He completed his Pediatric Residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1999, and a Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine in 2003. Dr. Liu joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 2003.
Dr. Liu’s research work focuses on the study of autoimmunity in type 1 diabetes and celiac disease. He has been awarded a five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health to research “Altering the Pl of Peptide Vaccines to Avoid Anaphylaxis,” and he holds a patent for “Antibodies to Insulin Peptide B:9-23 Prevent Type 1 Diabetes.”
Dr. Liu has won several prestigious awards. Annually, he has received a Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS) conference travel award, and in 2004 he received the Millennium Pharmaceuticals Young Investigator Award. Dr. Liu serves as a peer reviewer for several professional medical journals, and he was an Associate Editor for the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. He is widely published in both journal articles and book chapters.
Dr. Liu is board certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Gastroenterology.
