Lara D. Rappaport, MD, MPH, earned her Master’s of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 1996 and her medical degree from the University of Vermont School of Medicine in 2000. She completed her pediatric residency training and a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, in 2003 and 2006, respectively.
Dr. Rappaport joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 2006. She currently serves as the EMS (Emergency Medical Systems) Medical Director and the PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Medical Director for The Children's Hospital.
Dr. Rappaport’s profesional interest is in Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) research and administration. During her pediatric residency training she received the Mark A. Sperling, MD, Resident Research Award and the A. Vincent Londindo Jr., MD, Pediatric Senior Resident Teaching Award, both in 2003. Dr. Rappaport has published several articles and book chapters in the medical literature and is an invited speaker nationwide. She has performed volunteer work on behalf of Bosnian refugees in Slovenia, and she helped to found the organization STATS (Students Teaching AIDS To Students), in Burlington, Vermont.
Dr. Rappaport is board certified in Pediatrics.
