Scott D. Sagel, MD

Scott D. Sagel, MD, received his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in 1996. He completed both his Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, in 1999 and 2002, respectively. He is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Clinical Science at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. Dr. Sagel joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 2002. He has served as Associate Director of the Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center since 2005.
Dr. Sagel’s major scientific interests include cystic fibrosis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, and airway inflammation. He is nationally recognized for his clinical research involving children with cystic fibrosis and is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to study biomarkers of airway inflammation in children with cystic fibrosis.
Dr. Sagel is a member of several professional medical societies. He is an ad hoc reviewer as well as published author for many medical journals, and he serves as Chair of the Inflammatory Biomarkers Working Group of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics Development Network. In 2007, Dr. Sagel was recognized as one of the Best Doctors in America (5% of doctors selected nationwide by peers) and among Denver’s Top Doctors by 5280 Magazine.
Dr. Sagel is board certified in Pediatric Pulmonology.
