Shikha S. Sundaram, MD, MSCI
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Shikha S. Sundaram, MD, MSCI, earned her medical degree in 1998 from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. She completed her Pediatric Residency in 2001, a Fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in 2004, and an Advanced Hepatology and Liver Transplant Fellowship in 2005, all at the Children’s Memorial Hospital of Northwestern University. In addition, she received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Investigation in 2005 from Northwestern University Graduate School. Dr. Sundaram joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 2006.
Dr. Sundaram’s research focus is on the development of non-invasive biomarkers of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. These biomarkers have potential roles as indicators of disease pathogenesis, as disease indicators and predictors, and as surrogate markers for study endpoints. In addition, her research focuses on the evaluation of long-term outcomes in pediatric patients with liver disease and pediatric liver transplantation.
Dr. Sundaram is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. She is widely published in the medical literature.
Dr. Sundaram is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Gastroenterology and Pediatric Transplant Hepatology.
