Jeffrey S. Wagener, MD
Professor of Pediatrics
Jeffrey S. Wagener, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine in 1975. He completed his Pediatric Residency at the University of Washington in 1978 and a Fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1980. Dr. Wagener joined the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and The Children’s Hospital in 1990. Prior to joining the University of Colorado, he was on the faculty at the University of Iowa and Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Dr. Wagener has received grant funding for many studies. He is actively involved with epidemiologic and clinical research in cystic fibrosis. He helped develop the use of flexible bronchoscopy for evaluating the extent of airway inflammation in infants with cystic fibrosis and is currently involved with numerous studies conducted by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Therapeutics Development Network. As an advisor for the Epidemiologic Study for Cystic Fibrosis, Dr. Wagener is involved with many projects identifying associations between treatments and outcomes in cystic fibrosis.
Dr. Wagener is a member of numerous national and regional committees. He is an ad hoc reviewer for many professional journals and an Associate Editor for the Journal of Cystic Fibrosis. Dr. Wagener is widely published in the medical literature and is a popular speaker nationally and internationally.
Dr. Wagener is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonology, and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
