Welcome to the Pediatric Residency Program
We are delighted that you are interested in our pediatric residency program. This online version of our brochure addresses questions you may have regarding pediatric training in Denver.
|
Our program provides a broad and truly outstanding pediatric educational experience. The program includes clinical rotations at The Children's Hospital (consistently ranked in the Top 10 in the country), Denver Health Medical Center (a unique, comprehensive community health center), the University of Colorado Hospital and National Jewish Medical and Research Center. The Children's Hospital is excited about our new, state-of-the-art facility on the Fitzsimons Medical campus. This will provide a tremendous environment for our patients and your education. Your education will include exposure to a full spectrum of pediatric clinical problems in a challenging and stimulating learning environment. This includes the most common pediatric problems such as asthma and gastroenteritis as well as the most severe and unusual pediatric illnesses.
The faculty of the Department of Pediatrics are leaders in their respective fields. You will find faculty with a focus on subspecialty clinical care, primary care, research, education and advocacy. The interactions between residents and faculty are consistently rated as one of the most important and stimulating parts of our program.
Having recently moved to Denver to take the position of Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, I can tell you that it is a fantastic place to live. It combines the elements of a cosmopolitan city environment and all of the outdoor activities available year round in the Rocky Mountains. I look forward to meeting you in person and sharing my enthusiasm for pediatric programs in Denver with you. I know that you will be as excited as I am about the educational and career development opportunities here.
Sincerely,

Stephen R. Daniels, MD, PhD

Our program is designed to offer stimulating and comprehensive educational training in the specialty of pediatrics. It attracts a pediatric population that allows residents exposure to all major acute and chronic diseases of childhood. The program provides a broad educational experience that includes clinical rotations at our core hospitals as well as rural and international experiences.
Denver is a regional referral center, caring for children from a 500,000
square mile area. As a result, our residents are exposed to a tremendous range
of problems, from core “bread and butter” pediatrics to the most challenging and
unusual cases. We have more than 300 full-time faculty at our main and affiliated
institutions and more than 400 clinical faculty members, many of whom you
will meet and befriend. The diversity of the faculty and the residents assures an
exciting learning environment that thrives on challenging questions and new
approaches to pediatric issues. Denver is also a wonderful place to be.
Denverites take advantage of both a sophisticated city and the incomparable
mountains of Colorado.
We are committed to maintaining and expanding our role as pediatricians
and advocates for children in the world. We are proud of the fact that four
UCD physicians have served as president of the American Academy of
Pediatrics in the past 20 years. We hope you will find time to visit our program in
the near future and look forward to meeting you at that time.
Sincerely,

Adam A. Rosenberg, MD
Residency Program Director
