Where We Live

The dynamic city of Denver is located on the high plains against a backdrop of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Denver is unique in that it successfully blends the sophisticated urban beat of the city with easy access to the solitude and silence of mountain wilderness. Close to three million people of widely diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds live in the Denver metro area. About one-third of the population is of Hispanic background; another 10 percent are of African-American heritage. Denver’s cultural, culinary, and athletic offerings are world-class.

Yet just a few minutes’ drive from this highly livable metropolis are areas of complete openness and stunning natural beauty. Besides its world-renowned skiing, the foothills and mountains just west of the city offer every imaginable summer and winter outdoor activity. Coloradans enjoy some of the finest weather in the country, with 300 days of sun each year.

Cost of Living and Housing

Denver’s cost of living is very manageable on our resident salaries, and is quite low when compared to cities on both coasts, especially given our quality of life. This extends to the housing market. Residents live in a diverse array of neighborhoods in Denver and its surrounding towns, with about a 50/50 split between those who rent and those who purchase homes. A helpful website for housing options is www.apartmentguide.com, to view properties, floor plans, and pricing.
