Pediatric Heart Lung Center
Clinical Services
The Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic at The Children's Hospital provides a team approach to the diagnosis and treatment of children with severe pulmonary hypertension from unknown ("primary") or known ("secondary") causes.
Our group includes Dr. D. Dunbar Ivy (pediatric cardiologist); Dr. Steven Abman (pediatric pulmonologist); Renee Reitsch, Aimee Doran, and Laura Tucker (nurse practitioners); Michelle Calderbank, Kathleen Miller-Reed, and Jen Geppner (registered nurses); and Donna Parker (respiratory therapist).
We currently treat patients with chronic prostacyclin infusions, calcium channel blockers, endothelin receptor blockers, sildenafil, inhaled nitric oxide and several experimental drugs.
The Ventilator Care Program at The Children’s Hospital is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program that seeks to improve the quality of care, enhance outcomes, and provide better services for children with chronic ventilator–dependent lung disease and their families; and to enhance research, training, and education of health care providers. The program focuses on providing seamless care in partnership with families during the hospitalization, transition to home, and follow up in the clinic.
