Community Pediatrics
Research

The Section of Community Pediatrics works with the Section of Epidemiology to develop clinical pathways for the management of common acute pediatric illnesses that span the continuum of care to include telephone care, office-based care, emergency or urgent care, hospital care and follow-up care in the office. The Section evaluates the clinical and financial outcomes of using these pathways in conjunction with other sections in the Department of Pediatrics.

The Section also works closely with the Colorado Children’s Healthcare Access Program (CCHAP), whose mission is to develop and implement new models of healthcare to enable all pediatric practices in Colorado to provide a quality pediatric medical home for low-income children (Medicaid, Child Health Plan and the uninsured). The Section of Community Pediatrics shares this mission and collaborates with CCHAP and the Section of Epidemiology to pilot these new models of care and to evaluate the financial and clinical outcomes.
