Educational Objectives
The goal of this pediatric dermatology training program is to provide the trainee with the knowledge and skills to become an expert consultant in pediatric dermatology. We believe graduates of our program should acquire excellent clinical and teaching skills in pediatric dermatology.
This is a one- or two-year postgraduate fellowship designed for the individual who has completed three years of dermatology residency training to develop additional clinical and academic skills in pediatric dermatology.
The trainee will spend eight half-days per week in pediatric dermatology clinics and special clinics, such as vascular malformation clinic and genetic skin diseases clinic at the University of Colorado Denver. Genetic skin diseases clinics include monthly special clinics for: epidermolysis bullosa, ichthyosis, keratinizing disorders and pigmentary disorders.
Fellows will be expected to answer inpatient consults in pediatrics with the pediatric dermatology attending and attend weekly Grand Rounds, Basic Science lectures, Research in Progress and special lectures during the fellowship.
Fellows will be expected to develop a special area of expertise within pediatric dermatology during the training period and publish in that area.
We are dedicated to training pediatric dermatologists for academic and teaching careers.
The program is codirected by Drs. William Weston and Joseph Morelli, both world-recognized authorities in pediatric dermatology.
