Research
Research efforts include the use of molecular laboratory markers to define and control the constantly changing spectrum of microbial pathogens; the study of important pediatric diseases, including Kawasaki syndrome and invasive staphylococcal and streptococcal infections; and the development of reliable and practical clinical laboratory methods for identification and surveillance of resistant microorganisms.
Outcomes research includes the application of epidemiologic techniques to improve health care delivery systems through the development of outcomes measurement tools and analysis of large comparative datasets. Because of its geographic location, Colorado is an excellent venue for our population-based epidemiologic studies of children's health care trends.
