Neonatology
Clinical Services
The Section of Neonatology provides full clinical support for infants and their families at nine hospitals in the Denver metropolitan area, as well as 24 hours a day, seven days a week consultative, referral and transport services to physicians and their patients throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. Tertiary care services are coordinated between The Children's Hospital and the perinatal services at University of Colorado Hospital and Denver Health Medical Center.
Consultative and administrative services are provided daily to Level I and II nurseries at Lutheran Medical Center, Centura Health St. Anthony Central Hospital, Centura Health St. Anthony North Hospital, Centura Health Avista, Centura Parker Hospital, Northern Colorado Medical Center, Boulder Community Hospital, Platte Valley Medical Center and Poudre Valley Hospital. Consultative and patient care are also provided on a referral basis at other metropolitan area nurseries.
University of Colorado Hospital - Neonatal Care Unit and Well-Baby Unit
The Neonatal Care Unit provides 24 hour care for critically ill premature infants and full-term newborns requiring respiratory support and/ or surgical interventions.
Denver Health Medical Center
Inpatient care to children from 0-17 years of age - both medical and surgical - is provided at Denver Health Medical Center. The newborn nursery and neonatal ICU provide specialized care to newborns.
The Children's Hospital
Level III neonatal care, including all newborn problems caused by prematurity, birth defects and high-risk pregnancy, is provided at The Children's Hospital. There is 24 hours a day, seven days a week in-house coverage by neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners.
