Neonatology
Education Overview
The University of Colorado School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics and The Children's Hospital offers a three-year residency (fellowship) in neonatal-perinatal medicine. The goal of the residency is to provide physicians who are board eligible in pediatrics with in-depth training in neonatology and basic science research that will prepare them for a career in academic medicine.
Resident training in neonatal-perinatal medicine involves intensive clinical training, as well as development of basic research skills.
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is taught annually at The Children's Hospital with the intent of educating caregivers so that there is at least one certified individual present at every delivery. Participation in NRP by your hospital's perinatal caregivers is vital.
