Child Neurology
Clinical Services
The Section of Child Neurology treats more than 12,000 patients per year on the inpatient consultative service and in outpatient clinics at The Children’s Hospital in Aurora; at the Network of Care sites in Parker and Broomfield; and at other sites throughout the region.
Outpatient clinics and services at TCH include:
General Child Neurology Clinic – evaluates, consults, and manages children with disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Services provided include neurological consultation, ongoing care, and diagnostic services to identify, characterize and treat disorders in infancy, childhood, and adolescence, including seizures and epilepsy, headache/migraines, neuro-metabolic, neuro-genetic, and neuromuscular diseases.
Epilepsy Clinic – provides expert comprehensive care to children who suffer from seizures. Patients can range from children with new onset seizures to those with medically intractable epilepsy. The clinic offers a full range of treatment options including epilepsy surgery, dietary therapy, and clinical trials in new therapeutic agents.
Headache Clinic – provides comprehensive multidisciplinary health care of the highest quality to children with headache disorders. Additionally the providers in this clinic are actively pursuing research into the cause and treatment of headache disorders.
Multidisciplinary Muscle Clinic – a weekly clinic provides diagnosis and management of neuromuscular diseases by a multidisciplinary team consisting of providers from neurology, rehabilitative services, and genetics as well as representatives from the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Multidisciplinary Stroke Clinic – a bi-monthly clinic provides multidisciplinary services (including neurology, hematology, rehabilitative services, and neuropsychology) to patients and families with stroke and stroke-like syndromes.
Movement Disorder Clinic – a monthly clinic provides consultative services for the diagnosis and management of complex pediatric movement disorders.
Tuberous Sclerosis Clinic – provides comprehensive multidisciplinary health care of the highest quality to children with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and conducts clinical research of TSC.
Neuropsychology Services – Neuropsychologists provide consultation and evaluation of cognitive functioning, assess the risk for increased cognitive difficulties associated with the progression of disease and subsequent to treatment, and recommend appropriate interventions.
