Clinical Services
Neurology at The Children's Hospital
The Children's Hospital is a recognized leader in the care of children and adolescents with neurologic disorders, providing a comprehensive mix of services in neurosciences and neurodiagnostics. Our regional center provides neurological and neuropsychological evaluations and treatment to children throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. We see more than 6,000 outpatients and 1,200 inpatients annually. In addition to the clinical services in Denver, the Section serves the needs of children throughout Colorado through outreach clinics in Fort Collins, Grand Junction and Littleton. Satellite neurology services are also provided at The Children's Hospital at the Parker Clinic and in Broomfield.
The Children's Hospital Comprehensive Epilepsy Center (TCHCEC)
The Children's Hospital Epilepsy Program is a regional center that provides comprehensive management of epilepsy, including inpatient video EEG monitoring, SPECT scans, ketogenic diet, epilepsy surgery, vagus nerve stimulator, neuropsychological assessment and access to investigational drugs. Our goals are to accurately diagnose and provide treatment for children with seizures through a family-focused, multidisciplinary approach. We strive to facilitate the highest quality of life possible for all children with epilepsy. We provide epilepsy education to patients, families, professionals and community resources.
Ketogenic Diet Program
The Ketogenic Diet Program at The Children's Hospital offers multidisciplinary services to children and their families using this diet as a treatment option for the management of uncontrolled epilepsy. The Program's experienced team includes a neurologist, a nurse practitioner and a registered dietitian.
Neurodiagnostics
The Neurodiagnostics staff provides inpatient and outpatient services for the diagnosis of seizures and epilepsy, neurologic and neurobehavioral disorders in infants, children and adolescents. We have facilities for outpatient EEG, inpatient video EEG monitoring and other testing to support an active epilepsy surgery program, as well as evoked potential testing.
Neuromuscular Clinic
A multidisciplinary team of neurology, rehabilitative services, genetics and Muscular Dystrophy Association representatives meets weekly to provide diagnosis and management of neuromuscular diseases.
Movement Disorder Clinic
A monthly clinic is held to provide consultative service for the diagnosis and management of complex pediatric movement disorders.
Stroke Clinic
A monthly clinic is held to provide multidisciplinary service (neurology, hematology, rehabilitative services, neuropsychology) to patients and families with stroke and stroke-like syndromes. Coordination of scheduling is via hematology.
