Clinical Services

The Nutrition Department at The Children's Hospital, co-directed by Nancy F. Krebs, MD, and Jean Ann Olds, MS, RD, provides a comprehensive range of clinical nutrition support.

The Growth and Parenting/Nutrition Clinic is a referral clinic for infants and children with growth and feeding problems, including failure to thrive, tube feedings, and other nutrition problems. Attendings: Nancy F. Krebs, MD, and K. Michael Hambidge, MD, ScD; Staff: Lyn Stevenson, RD, CSP.

The GoodLIFE Clinic - 1 is a multidisciplinary pediatric weight-management clinic that includes thorough assessment and individualized, family-based treatment, incorporating medical, dietary, physical activity, and behavioral approaches. Attending: Nancy F. Krebs, MD; Staff: Renee Porter, RN, CPNP, Richard Boles, PhD, Kristen Jansen, CTRS, Michael Witten, MS; Matthew Haemer, MD, a Clinical Nutrition Fellow; and clinical dietitian.  (GLC-1 sees patients from 0-12 years, and patients with developmental delays, such as Prader Willi Syndrome.  GLC-2, is a similar medical weight-management clinic for adolescents over 12 yr.  Attending:  Robert Kramer, MD; Staff: Renee Porter, RN, CPNP, Michael Witten, MS.

The Inpatient Nutrition Consultation service includes consultation for medically complex patients with special nutritional and metabolic needs from pediatricians who are board certified in nutrition.  All inpatients are screened on admission; those at nutritional risk are evaluated and followed by registered dietitians.  Weekly rounds are conducted with the nutrition physicians and the registered dietitians on the medically complex patients.

Outpatient Nutrition Consultation is available at The Children's Hospital by registered dietitians for the following clinics and services, on a routine or as needed basis:

  • Neurology (including ketogenic diets, headache clinic)

  • Young Mothers Clinic
  • Gastroenterology and Hepatology Clinics
  • Pulmonary and Cystic Fibrosis

  • Developmental Disabilities/ Oral Feeding Clinic
