Prevention Research Center for
Family and Child Health

Education Overview

The Prevention Research Center for Family and Child Health (PRC) serves as a training site for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and other scholars seeking to deepen their training or experience in prevention science and the evaluation of program dissemination efforts. A seminar in preventive intervention research, focused on pregnancy, infancy and the early childhood years is offered by Professor Olds. In addition, PRC staff and faculty are called upon frequently to present at conferences and meetings on topics which include research and evaluation design and measurement in prevention; clinical aspects of effective home-based family intervention programs; and challenges in program dissemination.

With our partners, we are learning more about what it takes to move a program model developed in research settings into more widespread practice. The program evaluation is designed to monitor and promote quality program implementation, measure sentinel program outcomes and, with a subset of sites, determine the organizational and community factors that contribute to the quality and sustainability of the program in varied settings.
