Success Stories
Many of our researchers are world-renowned experts in their fields of medicine.
And parents from around the country whose children have rare diseases
or unique medical challenges send their children to Children's Hospital
to participate in research studies. Every year at the Pediatric CTRC
we produce many contributions to medical science concerning how to treat
the sick and injured or children with diseases that are hard to detect
or where there is no generally accepted standard of care.
These include:
- Brain cooling for premature babies
- Inhaled nitric oxide for lung development in early births
- Nutritional requirements for newborns
- Treatment for childhood and adolescent obesity
- Early detection and treatments for childhood diabetes
- Early detection and treatment for polycystic kidney disease
- Experimental therapies and new drugs for cystic fibrosis
- Identification and treatment for celiac disease
- New treatments for biliary atresia & other liver diseases
- Treatment and care of children born with HIV
- Development of new test methods for early detection of childhood diseases
as well as the body's reaction to treatments
Our researcher publish hundreds of scientific articles on their work. A selected
list of these are included in our online
library, including several examples
that you can download.
Over the past years, the number of studies performed at our Center, as
well as the number of families who participate in these efforts, continues
to grow. We also continue to expand the diversity of topics being explored.
We are committed to continuously improving the quality and efficiency of
our work, and look forward to the future smiles from children that are part
of our reward.
