Applicants are required to submit an application, two transcripts of all previous study, four letters of recommendation, and Graduate Record Examinations scores by January 15 for admission in September. Students will be more favorably viewed for admission if they have Graduate Record Examination percentiles of 65 or higher. There is no absolute requirement for grade point average above that required by the graduate school, but successful applicants will generally have GPAs above 3.2(A=4.0). Applicants should have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent and are usually expected to have completed a minimum of college-level mathematics through calculus, one year each of organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and physics, and two years of biology. Students deficient in specific courses may apply and be admitted; arrangements will be made to make up such courses during the first year.
