TIMELY NOTIFICATION BULLETIN FOR THE AURARIA CAMPUS

March 14, 2008

In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the Auraria Higher Education Center located in Downtown Denver is issuing notice of a violent crime that occurred on the Auraria Campus.

REPORTED OFFENSE:  A Metro State female student reports that on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, between 7:20 - 7:30 a.m., she was the victim of indecent exposure in the South Classroom Building on the  Auraria Campus. The incident occurred while she was studying in the cafeteria waiting for her class to begin. The suspect approached and sat down near the victim and asked if he could use her cell phone. When the victim went to retrieve her cell phone from the suspect she noted that his genitalia were exposed. The victim then began to gather up her belongings and the suspect exited the area in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured and did not require or request any medical attention. The victim did not report the incident to the Auraria Police Department until March 14, 2008.

SUSPECT:  The suspect was described as a African-American male, light-skinned, 6’3” tall, slender build, with black hair pulled back into a pony tail, 20 to 30 years of age, wearing tan cargo pants, a brown winter coat and white tennis shoes with gold speckles. The suspect had no facial hair and was carrying a black shoulder bag.

REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY:  The Auraria Campus Police Department urges everyone to use caution when encountering individuals who are not personally known to them. If you have any information about this crime, please call the Denver Police Detective Sexual Assault Division at 720-913-6050.

Timely Notification Bulletin for the Downtown Auraria Campus

February 22, 2008

 

In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the Auraria Higher Education Center located in Downtown Denver is issuing notice of a violent crime that occurred on the Auraria Campus.

 

REPORTED OFFENSE:  On Friday, Feb, 22, 2008 at approximately 7:20 a.m., a female visitor to campus reported being a victim of indecent exposure inside the South Classroom Building near Room #223A. The victim was sitting in the hallway when the suspect approached her and exposed his genitalia. The victim then had a verbal exchange with the suspect, and the suspect fled the area in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured and did not require or request any medical attention.

 

SUSPECT:  The suspect was described as an African American male, dark skinned, 5’6" to 5’8” tall, short black hair, 20 to 25 years of age, wearing a white t-shirt, tan cargo pants, headphones, a black knit cap, tan boots and a grey, knee-length jacket.

TIMELY NOTIFICATION BULLETIN (09/27/2007)

 

Auraria Campus, Downtown Denver

In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the Auraria Higher Education Center is issuing a notice of a violent crime that occurred near the downtown Denver Auraria Campus.

 

REPORTED OFFENSE: 

On Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at approximately 1: 50 p.m. a Metropolitan State College student at the Auraria Campus reported being sexually assaulted at the West Auraria Light Rail Station. The victim was waiting for the light rail car when the suspect grabbed her from behind placing his hands over the victim’s breast and kissed her. The suspect then left the area in an unknown direction and is still at large. The student was not injured and did not require or request any medical attention.

 

SUSPECT: 

The suspect was described as a white male in his 50s wearing a black or dark blue shirt and blue jeans. One of his eyes was swollen shut and the other was blood-shot. Suspect was carrying a black pull-type travel bag and two white plastic bags.

Auraria Campus Police Department
In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the University of Colorado Denver, downtown Denver is issuing notice of a violent crime that occurred on the Auraria Campus.

 

REPORTED OFFENSE:  On Thursday, March 1, 2007, at approximately 7:35 p.m. an Auraria student reported being sexually assaulted inside the West Classroom Building near room 164. The victim, a female student, was about to exit the building when the suspect grabbed her from behind and held her against his body. The victim screamed and kicked the suspect. The suspect then released the victim and exited the area south bound. The victim did not require or request medical attention.

 

SUSPECT:  The suspect is described as a black male, dark skinned, 6'4" to 6’5” tall, approximately 200 lbs, short black hair, 20 to 25 years of age, wearing a blue-pattern hooded sweater, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a black shiny jacket.

 

REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY:  The Auraria Campus Police Department urges everyone to use caution when accompanying individuals who are not personally known to them. TIMELY NOTIFICATION BULLETIN (1/23/2007)
Auraria Campus Police Department
In compliance with the "Timely Notice" provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the Auraria Campus is issuing notice of a violent crime that occurred on the Auraria Campus near the South Classroom building in the 1100 block of W. Colfax Ave.

 

REPORTED OFFENSE:  On Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 an Auraria student reported being robbed and assaulted near the South Classroom building at 1111 W. Colfax. The student had just crossed over from visiting the Burger King restaurant at the intersection of W. Colfax Ave. and Kalamath St., when he was confronted by a suspect demanding money. The student refused to comply and an assault occurred. The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital for treatment.

 

SUSPECT:  The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, stocky build, wearing a brown stocking hat, brown coat, brown baggy pants and buckskin colored work boots.

Auraria Campus Police Department
In compliance with the “Timely Notice” provisions of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the Auraria Police Department is issuing notice of a violent crime that occurred on the Auraria Campus near the Administration Building at 1201 5th Street, Denver.

REPORTED OFFENSE: The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at approximately 11:10 a.m., in the 1200 block of 5th St., in front of parking lot E. The victim, an Auraria student, was returning to his vehicle when he spotted a person he did not know going through it. The victim confronted the suspect, then chased the suspect and the two struggled. The suspect then stabbed the student in the leg and fled the scene. The student was not seriously injured.

SUSPECT: The suspect was described as a white male, 5’8”, 24-27 years of age, slight build, wearing an olive-colored jacket with a hood, khaki colored pants, and dark shoes. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: The Auraria Campus Police Department urges everyone to use caution when parking your vehicle and walking through the parking lots. If you see anyone matching the description of this party, please contact the police immediately. Lock your vehicle at all times and do not leave any valuables in your vehicle. Although vehicle break ins on the campus are infrequent, please use caution.
