UCD Emergency Notification System FAQ's

Q) What is Rave?
A) Rave is the company that the UC Denver, Metropolitan State College of Denver, Community College of Denver, and the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) have selected as the service provider for UC Denver/Auraria Campus Emergency Notification System (ENS). Rave provides computer-based communications tools and support to entities including colleges and universities to quickly and efficiently share critical information during emergency situations.

Q) How do I get voice messages from Rave?
A) Rave will always send voice messages to any phone number you register.

Q) How do I sign up?
A) Go to the UC DENVER website (www.cudenver.edu) for more registration information or to the Rave registration website at https://www.getrave.com/login/DenverAlerts.

Q) Can my parents or other family members also sign up so they'll know what's going on?
A) Yes. You may enter any phone number or email in the Rave system.

Q) What if I don't have a cell phone?
A) The UC Denver/Auraria Campus Emergency Notification System is a text and voice messaging system, but you can also choose to be notified by email or another type of text device.

Q) Is there a cost if I sign up?
A) The college institutions will not assess charges for this service; however, depending on your agreement with your mobile phone provider, you may incur charges if you opt to receive text messages in a campus emergency. Please check with your provider to understand your charges.

Q) What information do I have to provide when I sign up?
A) In addition to your name and an email address, the system will require you to enter the phone numbers and/or email addresses at which you wish to receive messages.

Q) What kind of situations will this notification process be used for?
A) Imminent emergencies such as, but not limited to, fire, tornado, hazardous materials spill, or an act of violence.

Q) How long will it take to get a message when something is happening?
A) It depends on the situation, but this system is designed to get the information out very quickly to the end user.  Based on our testing, Rave will be able to send SMPP text messages to all registered users in under 10 minutes. Voice messages will take somewhat longer.

Q) What do I do if I change my cell phone carrier?
A) If one of your phone numbers or email addresses changes, you will need to log onto https://www.getrave.com/login/DenverAlerts and update this information.

Q) Will my personal contact information be kept private by the university and Rave?
A) Yes.  The information contained within the confidential database will not be used by any of the participating organizations outside of the project's scope.

Q) Who do I contact if I'm signed up but didn't get a message?
A) Go to the website and double check that your information is correct.  Then contact the responsible individual listed on your institutions' webpage.

Q) Will this be used for weather-related closures?
A) If there is an eminent danger such as a flash flood or fire associated with storm activity, or a major blizzard that impacts the city's operations, the system could be used.
