Welcome

Chief of Police
Doug Abraham

The mission of the Police Department for the University of Colorado Denver (UCD) is to support the research, patient care and education missions of UCD by providing for a safe and secure campus environment in which students, faculty and staff may work, learn and conduct research.

We are proud that every police officer is certified in the State of Colorado as a Level One Peace Officer which gives them full police arrest and enforcement powers.  They are complemented by non-sworn uniformed security officers who are unarmed.  Police dispatchers take calls for assistance as well as perform a variety of tasks including the monitoring of campus alarm systems.  Collectively, they provide coverage seven day a week, 24 hours a day year round to campus facilities located at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.

Physical security measures, including cameras and alarm systems and a state of the art building access control system are measures that we use to secure buildings.

Some of the other services we provide include:

    • Traffic Enforcement
    • Escorts to vehicles
    • Presenting crime prevention information
    • Teaching personal safety classes including Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) for women and men

Security is everyone's responsibility. We ask that you, as members of the campus community, partner with us to ensure that the University is a safe and pleasant place to work.
