The University of Colorado Denver Police Department (UCD PD) accepts items of value that are found on or near the University of Colorado property. The police will hold these items for 90 days. If the items are not claimed by a legal owner within 90 days the items are disposed of. Most unclaimed items will be sold via an ongoing on-line auction at www.propertyroom.com. All revenues generated from the sale of found property go to the UCD PD Crime Prevention Fund.

The UCD PD will only accept items listed below.

Items of value would include:

  • Any property believed to be property of the university
  • Government issued documents (DL, ID etc.)
  • Jewelry
  • Serialized property
  • Cash
  • Credit cards, checks, other negotiable items
  • Laptop computers, PDAs, cell phones, cameras etc
  • Other property deemed valuable by the officer

To claim your property, you must make an appointment with a property custodian, and have picture identification with you when claiming item(s).

Call 303-724-4444 to see if your lost valuables have been found by, or turned in to, the University of Colorado Police.

If you have lost property that the police department may not accept, such as: personal keys, jackets, sunglasses, umbrellas, etc., you should contact facilities/ housekeeping services for the building you believe the items were lost in or near
