Our Mission
The Population-based Palliative Care Research Network is committed to enhancing the care of persons at the end of life and their families through the conduct and dissemination of high-quality research in palliative care settings.
PoPCRN was formed in 1998 at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine as a means for conducting on-going studies of care at the end of life. Specifically, our aim is to facilitate structured and rigorous exploration of issues of importance to patients, families, caregivers, and providers in palliative care and hospice settings. Since its inception, PoPCRN has grown to include 279 hospice/palliative care organizations from 49 states, Canada, Australia, Italy, Portugal, and the UK.
PoPCRN research is funded by the following organizations:
- American Cancer Society
- University of Colorado Cancer Center Seed Grant Program
- Mendel/Asarch Lung Cancer Family Foundation Grants Program
- National Institutes of Health- National Cancer Institute
- National Institutes of Health- National Institute on Aging
- National Institutes of Health- National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine,
- Paul Beeson Physician Faculty Scholars in Aging Research Award
- Robert Wood Johnson Generalist Physician Faculty Scholars Program
- State of Colorado Office of the Attorney General
- The Mordecai Palliative Care Research Fund ~ generously donated by the Daniel and Janet Mordecai Foundation
- Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute
We would like to encourage all palliative care and hospice sites to become involved in PoPCRN by contributing ideas for future studies and by participating in study design and implementation. Our goal is to address issues of importance to you, the palliative care and hospice providers, while minimizing the burden of participation and providing site-specific data back to you for your use.
We invite you to browse the pages in this site for more detailed information. Please direct questions to Dr. Jean S. Kutner, PoPCRN Director, jean.kutner@ucdenver.edu.
