What is the Caregiver Life Line?

The Caregiver Life Line is a telephone-based support program for family caregivers of hospice patients. The CALL program is part of a research program funded by the American Cancer Society, the National Institute on Aging, and the National Cancer Institute. The project is based at the University of Colorado Denver department of psychology and the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Why hospice caregivers?

Caregivers of home-based hospice patients often face extraordinary hardships in managing the physical and emotional needs of their loved one, dealing with uncertainty about the disease process, and communicating with health care workers and family members.

If I become involved in the project, what will take place?

The program involves up to 12 support calls focusing on issues such as self-care, coping with stress, physical symptoms, social support, grief and bereavement, and spiritual issues.
