The University of Colorado Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Service provides acute inpatient care to adult and geriatric patients. The attending psychiatrists are full-time faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and are experts in treatment of bipolar, depressive, schizophrenic, geriatric and neuropsychiatric disorders. The unit provides high quality evidence-based treatments, training of health professionals, and opportunities to participate in research. The treatment services include diagnostic assessment, pharmacologic treatment, psychoeducation, individual/group therapy, family therapy, and milieu management. The multidisciplinary inpatient team collaborates with community and outpatient specialty clinics to facilitate brief, solution-focused and targeted treatments with appropriate disposition and continuity of care.
